We’re urgently seeking a freelance Machine Translation Post-Editor & Translation Checker (Japanese→English) to work on projects for leading Japanese manga publishers. Please review the details below and apply now.

Application Details

Job Description
  • ・Provide Japanese-to-English manga translations and quality checks via MTPE (Machine Translation Post-Editing) using AI.
  • ・Translation of all titles will be conducted via a specialized online platform.
  • ・Titles selected for translation are all works from major Japanese publishers.
  • ・Communication with our in-house linguists during the translation process is both welcomed and encouraged.
Note: Some works may contain graphic violence or sexual scenes.
Salary ¥2,000 or higher per hour (depending on skill level).
Contract Type Freelance
Location Position is fully remote.
Requirements
  • ・A strong grasp of written Japanese and a deep understanding of context, slang, expressions, and cultural background.
    The ability to produce accurate yet natural-sounding English text is also strongly required.
  • ・Native-level English speaker.
  • ・Minimum Japanese language proficiency of N2 (JLPT) or equivalent ability.
  • ・At least one year of professional Japanese-to-English translation experience (in any field)
  • ・Be passionate about manga.
  • ・Must be willing to work at least 10 hours per week. Preference will be given to candidates who can devote themselves fully to tackling each project.
Desired Experiences and Skills
  • ・Professional experience in manga translation.
  • ・Work experience in other creative fields, such as gaming, movies, etc.

Uncompensated TOIN trial assessment.
The trial will be in Microsoft Word format, with a submission deadline of 4 days.
Additional uncompensated trial assessment via online platform.
This includes an online written test and assessment using the actual translation platform.
Begin work in August.
