■ What is AI Translation

“Machine Translation” means performing natural language processing via a computer and translating one language into another. "Machine Translation" is also referred to as "MT" for short.
In recent years, the emergence of Neural Machine Translation (NMT) has dramatically improved the translation accuracy of machine translation. NMT is a kind of AI learning that mimics the neural network of the human brain. The machine translation of an NMT model for deep learning is called "AI translation".

■ History of Machine Translation

Research on machine translation in Japan started in the 1980s. Since the advent of computers, it has been a dream for people to realize translation without human intervention. This dream has been passed down continuously to the present day. Up to the present NMT, several methods of machine translation have been studied.

Rule-Based Machine Translation (RBMT, or RMT)
Rule-Based Machine Translation (RBMT, or RMT) is used to interpret and translate syntax based on registered rules. Although it is said to be an old method of machine translation, and is not currently used much, one advantage it has is that there are no missed translations because it can translate to some extent without a corpus (past translated assets).

Statistical Machine Translation (SBMT, or SMT)
This is method of machine translation registers a large amount of bilingual data (usually called a “corpus”) and generates translated sentences using statistical methods. It is considered an easy way to create multilingual texts because it does not require the development of rules and dictionaries, and it is not bound by the nature of either the original or translated language.

Neural Machine Translation (NMT)
Google Translation with NMT announced by Google in November 2016 improved the quality of machine translation dramatically and made a big impact on various fields. NMT outputs translations in a way that is similar to how humans understand languages, and it is said that some engines can generate translations equivalent to a TOEIC score of 900 or higher.

Although it has been considered difficult to use machine translation for Japanese, the key to business success is how fast you can incorporate MT in the future.

There is no initial cost and the number of registered users is unlimited. AN-ZIN does not charge per character. No matter how many employees use it, there is no additional cost other than the usage fee as long as usage is within the limited number of characters. If the number of characters exceeds the limit, you can purchase additional character-based packs.

Check markEquipped with the latest AI translation engine for various specialized fields.

Uses a high-precision AI translation engine provided by the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT). The AI translation engine from NICT has been developed using a vast amount of quality bilingual data accumulated in the "Translation Bank" project promoted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. Also, TOIN uses bilingual data containing specific terms and expressions for various fields to create and provide AI translation engines specialized in such fields as legal (contracts), patents, finance, and semiconductors.

Check markTotal support from a 57-year-old translation company

TOIN not only provides AI translation tools, but also provides total support from introduction to operation, for things such as the customer's system configuration, use of terminology and translation assets, integration with translation support tools, pre-edit and post-edit know-how. For more than half a century, TOIN has been earning the trust of many customers as a translation company. TOIN promises total AI translation support that no other vendor can match. TOIN’s Engagement with Machine Translation

TOIN’s approach to machine translation TOIN has been working on machine translation since the early 1980s when development began in Japan.

With the request of Professor Masayuki Nagao (former president of Kyoto University) who is a leading machine translation translator, I participated in the Mu Project, established a department that mainly focuses on language research, and provided a translation dictionary to translation-system makers. At that time, the ten-year machine translation effort was introduced in detail in articles by the Japan Translation Federation.

Even since entering the 21st century, we have actively participated in machine translation industry organizations for the purpose of introducing machine translation to customers and providing translation services, and we are currently working on the process.
